2025 Ag Symposium

North Platte NRD Ag Symposium
February 19, 2025
Hosted By North Platte Natural Resources District
Special Guest Presenters

The Board of Directors and Staff from the North Platte NRD are pleased to announce an amazing opportunity for all area ag producers to attend a nutrient management workshop presented by Damian Mason from the Business of Agriculture and Temple Rhodes from Xtreme Ag.

Damian was raised on a dairy farm, owns and manages 300 acres of farm and timberland, and has a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. Damian produces and hosts his own - “The Business of Agriculture” podcast and the “Do Business Better” podcast.  He hosts the "Cutting the Curve" podcast with XtremeAG.farm, an informational platform for future-focused farmers.

Temple is a 7th generation farmer on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Chestnut Manor Farms, located in Centreville, Maryland, includes a no-till farming operation of 3000-acres of soybeans, 1500-acres of corn, and 1500-acres of wheat. Although Temple is a generational farmer, his practices are anything but traditional. The heavy government restrictions, paired with the Chesapeake Watershed, set the backdrop for Temple's aptitude for innovation.

On Wednesday, February 19th, at the Gering Civic Center, Damian and Temple will discuss with producers their experiences in crop production and how proper nutrient management practices can affect your bottom line while guarding and protecting our natural resources. The day's focus will be adaptation of nutrient management and how we can successfully feed the crop we are raising while shooting for great yields without sacrificing ground and surface water quality. Some of the other topics covered in the session will be understanding your soil test; control of weeds, insects, nematodes, and other diseases; and discussion on nitrogen replacement biologicals. The day will also have a presentation from the North Platte NRD staff regarding nutrient management in the District, and how best management practices fit into the statutory requirements of the NRD’s in the protection of groundwater quality.

Doors will open at 8 am and the presentation will begin at 9. FREE lunch will be served. It is the hope of all of us here at the North Platte NRD that you can find some time to come out and spend the day with the presenters and the North Platte NRD Staff as we discuss these topics that are so important to the economic and natural resource health of our District. Don’t forget to add to your calendar the NPNRD Ag Symposium on February 19th, 2025, at the Gering Civic Center in Gering Nebraska.
