Buffalograss Demonstration

North Platte NRD to host buffalograss workshop June 10th

The North Platte Natural Resources District will host a buffalograss workshop on Tuesday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the NRD building just south of the airport in Scottsbluff. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The workshop will provide information and tips on seeding preparations, seeding methods, seed varieties, establishing buffalograss, and maintenance. NRD staff will then perform a live planting demonstration on-site.

The workshop will be held outside, so participants are reminded to dress accordingly. Handout literature and brochures will be provided at the workshop.

The North Platte NRD also provides cost-share for landowners wanting to replace their conventional lawns with buffalograss. The cost-share will reimburse applicants up to $20 per pound for Bowie, Cody, and Sundancer varieties of buffalo grass seed on a recommendation of 2-3 lbs. per 1,000 square feet. Applicants are limited to 15,000 square feet per application. The deadline for the cost-share program is June 15.
