Directions:
1. ENTER TOTAL ACRES in the appropriate LIGHT BLUE BOX
(irrigated acres as certified by the NRD). This is the sum of the certified acres
in a pre-existing allocation unit (all fields watered by interconnected wells).
2. ENTER WATER USED in the appropriate box. This is the amount
of water applied to all of the fields, which may be applied anywhere on these
fields. You may enter any quantity, depending on how much water you expect to
use. You may change the quantity if you want find out what would happen if you
use more or less water.
3. If WATER USED is less than the total allocation, the calculator will determine
the amount of carry over for subsequent year(s).
4. If WATER USED exceeds the allocation, the calculator will subtract the overdraft,
calculate any penalties, and apply them to subsequent year(s).
5. If penalties and overdrafts result in no water available in subsequent years,
this is indicated in the calculator.
6. Water quantities are expressed in total acre-inches for the field (acre-inches
multiplied by the number of acres in the field).
7. The 2003 allocation, 15-acre-inches per acre, has been adopted as the
official allocation. However, NPNRD has not yet established allocations for the
years 2004 or thereafter. In the calculator, 14 acre-inches has been used only
for illustrative purposes. The actual allocation may differ. The NPNRD Board of
Directors expects to establish a 2004 allocation by January 1, 2004.
These calculators are intended to be used as planning tools for irrigators
in Pumpkin Creek Basin. Every effort has been made to ensure that they are accurate.
However, they are intended only for illustrative purposes. Enforcement of allocation
and other regulatory controls in Pumpkin Creek Basin lies with the North Platte
NRD’s Rules and Regulations for Pumpkin Creek Basin Groundwater Management
Sub-Area, as interpreted and applied by the NPNRD Board of Directors.
Nor are these calculators intended to serve as a record of how much water is
used in Pumpkin Creek Basin. Official records of groundwater use will be kept
at the offices of the North Platte Natural Resources District.
