NRD
poster contest winners announced
Winners
have been chosen for the 2006 North Platte Natural Resources District
conservation poster contest. From the 95 entries, the NRD awarded prizes
to twelve young artists in two age divisions. One winning entry will
be submitted to be judged in the Nebraska Association of Resources District
(NARD) state contest later this year.
The
poster contest challenged students to create artwork showing the importance
of clean and abundant water supplies or ways to be “Water Wise” in their
own homes and communities. The entries from Westmoor, Geil, Mitchell
and Morrill Elementary schools showed a wide variety of messages about
water conservation.
Cash
prizes for first, second and third places, as well as honorable mentions,
were given in each age division. All winners received a NPNRD award
certificate and have their artwork on display this week at Monument
Mall in Scottsbluff and on the NPNRD website at www.npnrd.org. The contest
was open to all K-6 students living within the North Platte NRD's boundaries.
A similar contest will be held again in 2007.
