Educational Opportunities

The North Platte NRD sponsors, hosts, and participates in many educational opportunities for students of all ages in Scotts Bluff, Banner, Morrill, Garden, and southern Sioux Counties.  NRD staff have been trained in the Project Wild program and the Project Wet and the Project Learning Tree programs. Offering PLT/ WET or WILD workshops. This offer is open to any group of teachers or administrators or in-service, that may need an extra speaker or an open space, or would like to have continuing education credits. Please let Amanda Shepperd know at   or need for any help with any planning along the way. I’m excited to focus on being a support for the wonderful educators, supplying the needs that they may have for conservation education while pulling in information about the natural environment of our Platte river valley.

Also, new to the conservation education world is PLT ‘Green Jobs’, if there is interest in that as well, it’s a fun curriculum that ties into the new standards as well.

The North Platte NRD also participates in various Education Services Unit 13 programs; such as Water
Education for Tomorrow (WET), Branched Out, and Let's Rock.

The NRD is proud to work with other dedicated natural resources professionals to teach students about the world around them and to provide positive role models if they choose to pursue careers in natural resources. Presentations offered can focus on water, wildlife, forestry, or a conservation education topic of choice.
